Housing & Meals
Due to the nature of the Sangha & Laity Training Programs, on-campus residency is a requirement. Housing for single male and female students, as well as married couples, is available at the Ukiah and West Sacramento campuses, and for single male students at the Berkeley Campus [the Berkeley Campus admits male students only].
Students are required to live in the housing provided for their use. That said, housing in the Ukiah ranges from a monthly rate of $500-$1,000; in the Sacramento area $500-$1800; and, in Berkeley $700-$2000.
At the Ukiah and West Sacramento campus, children of students have the opportunity to attend Instilling Goodness Elementary School and Developing Virtue Secondary School.
Students take their meals with the rest of the community in the Main Dining Hall centrally located on campus.
No cooking is allowed in residence halls for single men and women. Out of compassion for all beings, all meals are vegetarian, which includes no eggs or fish.
Library Facilities
The Dharma Realm Buddhist University Library at the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas is available to all students and faculty of the Sangha and Laity Training Programs. The Library houses a major collection of Buddhist texts, books about Buddhism, and Buddhist periodicals, in both Asian and Western languages.
In addition, the Library has collections in literature, the humanities, the social sciences, and other disciplines. The Main Library is a two-story, Tudor, brick building, located at the northeast portion of the Campus. On the first floor are found stacks of general works in English and other languages, an audio visual room where Buddhist tapes and languages tapes are housed; and, a reference book area.
On the second floor are housed Buddhist works, including the Buddhist stacks, a reference room for information retrieval and publications searching, and a commons area. The general works and Buddhist works collections are all online.
Other libraries on the Ukiah campus include: three Buddhist reference library areas at Joyous Giving House; a Buddhist reference library at Tathagata Monastery; an ESL materials library in the DRBU Administration Building; a Vietnamese library in the West Wing; and a boys’ and two girls’ school libraries.
The West Sacramento campus Library houses an extensive collection of Buddhist books. Apprenticeship locations (designated on page 17-19) also have libraries. All students are entitled to a library card.
The Berkeley Campus houses the donated collection of Huston Smith, the world renowned teacher, scholar, writer, and practitioner of comparative
religions.
Health Facilities
The Health Clinic at the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas has. There are in residence for day-to-day medical care and support. Medical professionals, including doctors and dentists, visit CTTB regularly to render a wide range of medical services. Additionally, the University is near the following healthcare facilities in the City of Ukiah:

Medical Insurance
Students are required to purchase adequate health insurance coverage as a requisite for admission into either the Sangha or Laity Training Programs.
Foreign Student Services
The Sangha & Laity Training Programs are authorized by the U.S. Department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement [ICE] to admit non-immigrant foreign students. The Registrar’s Department will provide information and an I-20 application for a foreign student visa [F-1] at no cost to the student; however, the student will be responsible for the costs of their own visa filing fees and postage. SLTP does not admit undocumented students. It is expected that graduates of SLTP will return to their own countries to pursue their vocations; moreover, student visas do not lead to permanent residency in the United States.
